Here Bhagavan Sri Vishnu is eulogized as ‘janārdana’ in shloka 14. This quality of Bhagavan Sri Vishnu we can find in ‘Sri Vishnu Sahasranama Stotram’. Janārdana is the one who protects common people, that is, his devotees from evil. This is the inner meaning of the name Janardana. Janardana makes us to not to take another (rahitya) life (janma). This means, Janardana makes us free from this suffering on this earth and will make us to get ready to send to the most divine abode Vaikuntha. Thus ‘janārdana’ is someone who destroys our ‘janma’ (Suffering birth of this sansar) and blesses us to be ‘janmarahitya’, that is, janmarahitya means, janma = life, rahitya = without. But this has another meaning called ‘janana’ (birth) and ‘ardana’ means destroying. Translation: O Janardana, O Keshava, why do You (Bhagavan Sri Krishna) wish me (Arjuna) to engage in this dreadful warfare, if You (Bhagavan Sri Krishna) think that intelligence is better than fruitive work?įrom these two shlokas, it is very clear that Bhagavan Sri Vishnu / Bhagavan Sri Krishna is same as Bhagavan Sri Janardana.Īll the different divine names like Vishnu, Krishna, Janardana, Rama, Hari etc are the same, but with different meaning.
